Fluid Exchange Services

What We Do

Your vehicle’s brake system, radiation, automatic transmission, gearbox, and power steering require fluids to lubricate and protect essential system parts. Over time, these fluids become dirty, break down, and need replacing or topping off. Grease Monkey© technicians offer fluid exchange services to help keep your vehicle operating at peak efficiency. Our fluid exchange services include:

  • Power steering fluid exchange
  • Transmission fluid change
  • Radiation fluid change
  • Motor oil changes

How to Know When Your Car’s Fluids Need to Be Changed

Your owner’s manual explains how often you need fluid exchange services. Your fluid exchange schedule may look something like this:

  • Engine oil: 3,000 to 15,000 miles, depending on manufacturer recommendations and whether your manufacturer recommends standard or synthetic motor oil.
  • Manual transmission fluid changes: Grease Monkey checks your transmission fluid with every oil change.
  • Automatic transmission fluid change: Your user manual recommends checking your automatic transmission fluid every 25,000 to 150,000 miles, depending on the make and model of your vehicle. Grease Monkey checks your automatic transmission fluid with every oil change.
  • Radiator fluid (coolant fluid) exchange: Vehicle manufacturers typically recommend a coolant fluid exchange every 30,000 miles or two years. Check your user manual for the exact schedule.
  • Brake fluid: Manufacturers often recommend flushing and replacing old brake fluid every 30,000 miles or two years, although exact schedules vary depending on your vehicle’s make.
  • Power steering fluid: How often you need to replace power steering fluid varies, with some manufacturers recommending between 40,000 and 80,000 miles or more.

Heavy use may require more frequent fluid exchange services. Your owner’s manual will provide more details.

How Fluid Exchange Services Works

During fluid exchange services, Grease Monkey technicians drain old fluid from your car’s systems, flushing the fluid lines to clean them if necessary. Our technicians add new fluid and check for line leaks or other signs of damage.

Things to Consider About Fluid Exchange Services

Vehicle engine fluids slowly build up dirt and debris, which hinders the fluid’s ability to lubricate and protect engine parts. Routine fluid exchange services reduce wear and tear while improving engine performance and should be part of any vehicle’s regular maintenance.
