Oil Change Service

Motor oil is the lifeblood of your vehicle’s engine. Oil lubricates engine parts, protecting against wear and tear while helping coolant maintain engine temperature. Motor oil degrades with time and use, so regular oil change services are essential for a properly functioning engine and an important part of routine preventive maintenance.

What We Do

Grease Monkey® service centers offer full-service standard and synthetic oil changes, with a free multi-point inspection.

Standard Oil Changes

Standard oil is a crude oil product with additives that extend the oil’s working life. A standard oil change, sometimes called a conventional oil change, drains old oil and replaces it with a synthetic blend oil.

Synthetic Oil Changes

Synthetic oil is an artificial lubricant made as an alternative to standard motor oil. Many vehicle manufacturers recommend using synthetic oil as it provides superior engine protection and long-lasting viscosity.

How Oil Changes Works

The steps to a full-service oil and filter change are the same whether you need a synthetic or standard oil change. The technician drains your oil and replaces it with fresh new oil based on your manufacturer’s recommendations. Once the oil change is completed, the technician will perform a multi-point inspection. Your technician will check the following:

  • Air filters.
  • Battery condition.
  • Brake fluid level.
  • Cabin air filter.
  • Chassis lubrication (if applicable).
  • Condition of exterior lights.
  • Differential fluid.
  • Engine coolant.
  • Power steering fluid.
  • Tire pressure.
  • Transmission fluid.
  • Washer fluid.
  • Windshield wiper blades.

Your service technician may wash the vehicle windows and vacuum the floorboards depending on the service center. Not all service locations offer these complementary services as part of a full-service oil change.

Things to Consider About Oil Changes

Motor oil degrades over time. Dirt and debris build up in the oil, and the oil’s viscosity weakens. Regular oil change services help prevent damage to your engine.

A quick search online generates thousands of websites offering advice on when you need an oil and filter change. Some say every six months, while others base their recommendations on mileage. Grease Monkey recommends an oil change every 3,000 miles. You can also check your vehicle manufacturer’s manual for a recommended oil change schedule, whether you need a standard or synthetic oil change, and other important information.

Arranging regular oil change services is vital for your vehicle’s performance. Check our locations page for an oil and filter change service center near you.
